Gracia: "We have to work hard to compete better than we did today"
Javi Gracia reacted to Valencia CF's 3-0 defeat to Getafe CF in his post-mtch press conference, emphasising the need for improvement in the coming games.
A bad game
"I have to acknowledge that the game tonight was very, very bad. The last two away games have been amongst our worst matches this season, and having won home games has been what has given us a little life. We aren't ok and we have to work hard to face the remainder of the season with the morale required to compete better than we did today."
Taking responsibility for the situation
"There is a great sense of responsibility and of wanting to do things better, which isn't being reflected. We have to be critical in our analysis and we have to recognise that the way we are playing in games isn't corresponding with our good intentions and daily work. When you don't get your just rewards, there is great diappointment. We have to regain our morale and work to prepare for the next game as best we can."
A feeling of helplessness
"I felt very helpless. What I was saying to the fourth official -understanding that it is difficult to referee these types of games- was that the move for the sending off wasn't too different to the incident with Cabaco that only got a yellow, in my view. We have to focus on doing things better, and we didn't start well today. Knowing what type of game this was, we conceded a goal from a long shot off a second ball. I think that the situations we saw, besides the sending off, in the first half meant that we didn't deserve a better result."
Sadness
"I'm disappointed with today's game, and sad about the showing we offered. Now we have to look to the next game and try to perform better. I'm not a problem for the club. I want the best for the club, and the best thing that I can do is prepare for the next game."
